butter London: Spring/Summer 2012 Collection Review & Swatches (picture heavy)

Good morning, lovelies! I know, long time no post. -_-
Anyway, hope you all are enjoying your weekend!

I'm not sure about you, but I cannot wait for Spring/Summer to arrive! I'm so over this cold, rainy weather. I'm ready to bring out my flip flops, shorts, and dresses! ;)

To help brighten up your day, I have the butter London Spring/Summer 2012 collection to show you all. There's quite a bit to cover, so let's get into it!

Bossy Boots, Slapper, Knackered, Trout Pout, and Disco Biscuit

DICTIONARY DEFINITION: Bossy Boots – A derogatory name for someone who is pushy or bossy, (usually reserved for children).

Making it on my top 3 polishes from this collection is Bossy Boots. It's a beautiful, pale pistachio that required two easy coats for full opacity. Let me tell you, the formula on Bossy Boots is a 10/10 in my book! It's perfectly smooth and applied like buttah! ;) If you are looking for a neutral color aside from nude, Bossy Boots is a great alternative for the upcoming season!

DICTIONARY DEFINITION: Slapper – Brit-speak for ”slut”.

Slapper is a vibrant, teal that dries to an ultra glossy finish. Two coats were used in the above images; the first coat was a bit streaky. Slapper isn't the most unique color, but is a perfect addition to help transition into Spring/Summer colors. I currently have these on my toes! ;)

DICTIONARY DEFINITION: Knackered – To be tired or exhausted. “Wow, you look knackered. What did you get up to last night?!”

Another color that has made its way onto my top three is Knackered. A beautiful, duochrome that flashes from silver, lavender, and soft green in certain angles. What's even more great is that it is infused with micro holo glitters. The formula was very sheer and required  four coats. If you are in a rush or just don't have the patience like me, (at times) I recommend using a darker base to help speed the process.

DICTIONARY DEFINITION: Trout Pout – Cruel slang for a woman who has “over done” the collagen in her lips, leaving her with a rather fishy face.

Trout Pout is a coral, salmon that required two coats for opacity. The formula on this was effortless and if I were more careful, I suppose one coat would have done the job. Again, it isn't the most unique color, but still a great staple in this collection.

DICTIONARY DEFINITION: Disco Biscuit – A club term from the rave days of the early 90’s for a tablet of Ecstasy.

Rounding off my top three list is Disco Biscuit! Ahhh, the favorite child from this collection! LOL! Disco Biscuit is a vibrant, fuchsia jelly infused with micro, blue iridescent glitter particles. Being that this is a jelly formula, I needed 3 coats for opacity, but is worth every single coat since this nail polish is so unique! My camera had difficulty picking up the color, but if you take a look at the bottle, that's pretty much the final result!

Overall, I completely dig this collection! Whether it be, neutral, vibrant cremes, or glitters, each color in this collection is great way to transition into Spring/Summer.
1.) Bossy Boots 2.) Disco Biscuit 3.) Knackered

As always, hope this helps & happy shopping!

  2. I love all these colours. I hadn't considered Bossy Boots until I saw your beautiful swatches. The only thing I don't like is that they describe is as meaning 'slut', which makes me sad. I know it's meant to be cheeky but that word just sucks and it's not really the same context that we use the word 'slapper' in the UK. xxx

  16. Knackered looks stunning in the bottle, but 4 coats and still not opaque? =( I wouldn't have that much patience, but the idea with glitters is great! =))

  18. Interesting names :) I like the Slapper :)

  19. Haha. Thanks for the name translations. I love British humour. I think bossy boots is the nicest as well. The snow has melted early here and we have such hot spring weather. Warmth record for march. Although probably feels freezing for someone living in California. I am so excited to be able to wear spring shoes and to ditch the winter coat, scarf, hat and gloves. And even more to paint my nails in all spring colours. Can't wait for it to be summer and to be able to wear sandals and paint my toenails too.
