Review: OCC Nail Polish & Lip Tars

Good morning! I have a lot to cover, so let's get right to it!

I'm so pleased to show you a few goodies I received from Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics.

Before I begin, here is a little background info in case this is your first time hearing about this company.

Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics? What's up with the name?
"The first step is admitting you have a problem," says company founder David Klasfeld, "I did and the result is a line obsessively crafted from the finest ingredients possible, to celebrate the driving compulsions of makeup fanatics everywhere."

What's with the 'Vegan' thing?
In a time when many cosmetic companies make the claim that their products are "Cruelty Free" simply because Animal Testing has become unfashionable and less cost-effective, OCC felt it was necessary to raise the bar on this issue. We pledge never to use animal-derived ingredients (including Lanolin, Beeswax, Carmine and more) in our products and accessories. Beyond any personal convictions, we simply believe that it's unnecessary, especially when there are alternatives that are just as readily available, and equally effective in the formulation of our products. Further, you need not necessarily be aligned with animal rights issues to reap the benefits of a vegan cosmetic line: animal ingredients can be amongst the most allergenic and skin reactive, and prevent makeup from being considered Kosher, Halal or otherwise compliant with various dietary (and sanitary!) regulations.

Onto the goodies!

$8.00 USD | 0.5 FL OZ
A modern colour palette and formulation to match, OCC's professional quality nail lacquers are densely pigmented, quick-drying and super long lasting. Formulated with the Editorial Manicurist in mind, the result is lots of color using very little product for nails that are camera-ready just moments after the application. Available in Satin, Matte and Metallic texture and both Sheer and Opaque finishes.

A stunning new innovation in lip color, OCC Lip Tar combines the longevity of a lipstick, with the ease of application of a gloss. Goes on slick and moist, and dries down to a satin finish. Ultra-saturated in color, Lip Tar contains an unprecedented amount of pigment - a little goes a very, very long way! An intense yet featherweight layer of color that stands up to the scrutiny of Hi-Def Video and Digital Photography, without ever looking (or feeling!) heavy. Meant to be mixed, Lip Tar comes in concise array of colors for a limitless selection of shades made by you!

Final thoughts:

Let me start off by saying that these are one of the most easiest nail polishes I've ever applied.  The application process is nice and smooth. The formula was the perfect consistency and had the perfect brush for effortless application.

If you've been reading my latest Barry M posts, you know that I LOVE when nail polishes give off a high shine look without the use of a topcoat. OCC does not disappoint in this area. If you take a good look at the photos above, you can see how it gives off a nice shine finish. Trust me, it's ever glossier in person! ;)

I'm currently wearing Something and it has easily become my favorite from the swatches I've shown.

I LOVE THEM. In all honesty, that sums up exactly how I feel about them.

What is OCC Lip Tar™? What makes it different?
OCC Lip Tar™ truly is a liquid lipstick! Lip Tar™ goes on with the smoothness and ease of a lipgloss but wears like a comfortable satin finish lipstick

When it comes to lip products, I am very picky. They must have 3 of the following: longevity, high pigmentation, and cannot be drying. OCC's Lip Tars has surpassed my expectations.

One of the ingredients you immediately notice is peppermint oil. I was surprised to feel a cool, tingly feeling during application. After a few seconds or so, the sensations begin to fade.

A LITTLE bit goes a LONG way.
On their website, they claim that the amount of product you would normally use from a lip gloss, is the enough Lip Tar to cover your entire face! That really says a lot. They recommend using only a tiny bead of product. Hopefully that will ensure that the product does not settle deep into your lines and feather out passed your lip lines.

You have plenty enough time to work the product onto your lips before it dries- no rush! :) Once completely dry, it's practically smudge-proof.

Lastly, I love how versatile they are. On their website, it claims that you can also use them as creme blushes. I have yet to try them on my cheeks, but I think it would be the same scenario, a little bit goes a long way!

  10. The polishes look great! I have and love Anime! My favorite feature of the lip tars is how mixable they are! I have always been a lipstick mixer but never really been satisfied fully, but with lip tars and all the colors they come in, I could mix up virtually any tone my imagination could come up with and it would always end up with a great finish.

I've mixed Anime & Katricia together and it was able to lightly tone down Katricia.

With all the colors, the possibilities are endless! xx
