OPI: Mariah Carey Collection

Happy Friday, everyone!

I hope you all had a great Holiday and a very Happy New Year! To kick off 2013, I have the OPI Mariah Carey Collection. I know many of you, myself included, have been waiting for the release of the Liquid Sand shades! Did they live up to the hype? Keep reading! ;)

A Butter Fly Moment is a soft, peachy pink nude with a beautiful golden shimmer. I wasn't immediately drawn to this color at first glance of the bottle, but I was pleasantly surprised during application. Formula was easy to work with and opaque after two coats.

Pink Yet Lavender is a clear base loaded with holo glitter and small metallic pink hexes. Glitter distribution was perfect and applied nicely onto the nail. This was one generous coat.

Anti-Bleak is a a rich, raspberry purple creme that dries to an ultra glossy finish. The formula on this was outstanding and glided nicely onto the nail. I'm a huge rich, purple lover and this was no exception. The image below was done in two coats.

Sprung is a blend of copper, orange, gold, and pink flecks. The formula was a little thin and required three coats for opacity. I'm definitely, "sprung" off this color! ;)

Get Your Number is a blue jelly base packed with various types/sizes of glitter. This was my favorite from the four and looks amazing with or without a top coat. This was two generous coats.

Can't Let Go is a deep, purple jelly base with purple hex glitters. This was my least favorite of the four as it seemed pretty blah compared to the other three from the Liquid Sand collection. It did, however; apply nicely in two coats.

The Impossible is a vibrant, reddish pink jelly packed with hexes, stars, and micro glitters. Again, the formula on this was good and applied nicely in two coats.

Stay the Night is a black jelly base loaded with hot pink glitter. This was my second favorite from the LS part of the collection. STN applied nicely in two coats.

Anti-Bleak, Sprung, Get Your Number, and Stay the Night

Liquid Sand dries to a very matte, textured finish and is meant to be worn without a top coat.
They aren't as gritty as they appear to be on the nail
If you do plan to wear a TC, I recommend using a few coats of a nice, thick TC
Removal was a pain, but it's nothing the good ol' Elmer's Glue can't fix!
I noticed that it took 5+ hours for the full effect of the Liquid Sand to show thru

As always, hope this helps & happy shopping!

Which colors have caught you attention? Are you a fan of Liquid Sand? Thoughts?! I'd love to know down below!
These were sent for review.

  1. Love love LOVE The Impossible! That is such a gorgeous reddish polish. I will have to try that liquid sand polish when it becomes available where I live too. It looks interesting enough.

  5. This is soooo not my kind of collection I am even finding 1 polish I am interested in...but that's just me - I don't like the non sand shades at all - they are old, re-cycled shades I have seen for eons (but then I have to say I have been collecting this current collection since late 80's with a few purges during that time due to moves and lack of space. I don't like the sands on their own - I sort of like the blue one with a clear topper...the black one without a clear topper looks like a asphalt driveway that is just been re-topped!
